It is with pleasure that we announce the ISES conference in 2011 to be held in the Netherlands. This has provided our organisation with an exciting opportunity to collaborate with the world famous Global Dressage Form (GDF). In order to facilitate this unique event, ISES needs to change its 'usual' meeting period. The new dates for 2011 ISES conference are set for Wednesday 26th October (the welcome reception) followed by formal oral presentations and practical sessions, ending on Saturday October 29, 2011. For those who wish to stay on the ISES conference will be directly followed by the GDF.
To accommodate good exchange of ideas and information, part of the (practical) sessions will also be open for the GDF participants, and we will ensure that there is a negotatied rate for ISES participants to visit the GDF.
The theme of the ISES conference will be: ''Equitation science: principles and practices - science at work.'' The local organising committee has planned a well balanced and exciting programme which will be unveiled shortly. Part of the programme wil take place at the same location as the GDF: The Bartels Academy in Hooge Mierde, the Netherlands, with all scientific presentations and discussions taking place in a modern conference centre close by. The event can be easily accessed by public transport and there is an aiport near by.
Because we are working together with the equine industry (especially the sport and our national equine representative organisation) there will also be a separate public day (with less emphasis on scientific discussions) for veterinarians, trainers and riders where we hope to see a lot of exchange between scientists and practitioners in the field.

We look forward to welcoming you all in October 2011 to the Netherlands.

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee,

Machteld van Dierendonck
